This May, Montgomery County reaffirmed its long-standing commitment to creating equitable, inclusive, and affordable housing opportunities for all residents by officially recognizing Affordable Housing Month through a formal proclamation from the Montgomery County Council.
The proclamation highlights Montgomery County’s continued leadership in advancing fair housing policies, preserving long-term affordability, and expanding access to safe, stable housing for individuals and families across the region.
For organizations like Victory Housing, this recognition is especially meaningful.
For decades, Victory Housing has worked alongside community leaders, advocates, and public partners to help older adults and individuals with disabilities access quality affordable housing communities that support dignity, independence, and connection. The county’s continued investment in affordable housing initiatives reinforces the importance of this work and the impact it has on residents throughout Montgomery County.
The proclamation specifically recognizes the county’s efforts to:
- Preserve and expand affordable housing opportunities
- Modernize the Moderately Priced Dwelling Unit (MPDU) Program
- Support housing development near transit and opportunity areas
- Remove unnecessary barriers to affordable housing construction
- Foster inclusive communities where every resident has access to safe and stable housing
