Central to any strong community and to families, is housing. Over the years, Victory Housing has become an expert in providing housing that meets the needs of frail and independent senior citizens. We have also established strong partnerships with government agencies and charitable organizations to raise money and other resources that reduce the costs of housing, making it accessible to low and moderate-income people. Because of the severe shortage of affordable housing in the region, Victory Housing has become increasingly involved in preserving and producing affordable family housing.
One example is the Cambridge Apartments, located in Takoma Park, Maryland. The previous owner had not cared for the 33-unit building. The building was badly deteriorated and in need of major rehabilitation. We installed new plumbing, windows, roofing, air conditioning, carpeting, and kitchen appliances. We also built a community center in the building in previously un-used ground floor space. Considerable landscaping and site improvements converted this eyesore to a vital, well-serviced housing asset. Now the Cambridge is home to 33 low to moderate-income families with children. We are completing similar improvements at adjacent 46-unit Winslow House Apartments, located across the street from Cambridge.
